You are about to purchase a CD disk containing ALL 9 VOLUMES of The Suppressed Gospels and Epistles of the New Testament by Archbishop Wake, in PDF file format. As a bonus, the CD also includes The Lost Books of the Bible and The Forgotten Books of Eden. All three books total more than 1000 pages of fascinating reading! Shipping is FREE to the U.S.A.! About the Author: William Wake (1657-1737), English archbishop, was born in Blandford Forum, Dorset, on January 26 1657, and educated at Christ Church, Oxford. He took orders, and in 1682 went to Paris as chaplain to the ambassador Richard Graham, Viscount Preston (1648-1695). Here he became acquainted with many of the savants of the capital, and was much interested in French clerical affairs. He also collated some Paris manuscripts of the Greek Testament for John Fell, bishop of Oxford. He returned to England in 1685; in 1688 he became preacher at Gray’s Inn, and in 1689 he received a canonry of Christ Church, Oxford. In 1693 he was appointed rector of St James’s, Westminster. Ten years later he became dean of Exeter, and in 1705 he was consecrated bishop of Lincoln. He was translated to the see of Canterbury in 1716 on the death of Thomas Tenison. During 1718 he negotiated with leading French churchmen about a projected union of the Gallican and English churches to resist the claims of Rome (see J. H. Lupton, Archbishop Wake and the Project of Union, 1896). In dealing with nonconformity he was tolerant, and even advocated a revision of the Prayer Book if that would allay the scruples of dissenters. His writings are numerous, the chief being his State of the Church and Clergy of England … historically deduced (London, 1703). He died at Lambeth on January 24 1736/7 (courtesy of Wikipedia). Here are the contents of The Suppressed Gospels and Epistles of the New Testament: VOLUME. 1 – THE GOSPEL OF THE BIRTH OF MARY. VOLUME. 2 – THE GOSPEL CALLED THE PROTEVANGELION VOLUME. 3 – THE FIRST GOSPEL OF THE INFANCY OF JESUS CHRIST. VOLUME. 4 – THE GOSPEL OF NICODEMUS, FORMERLY CALLED THE ACTS OF PONTIUS PILATE VOLUME. 5 – THE EPISTLES OF JESUS CHRIST & ABGARUS KING OF EDESSA. VOLUME. 6 – THE FIRST EPISTLE OF CLEMENT TO THE CORINTHIANS. VOLUME. 7 – THE GENERAL EPISTLE OF BARNABAS. VOLUME. 8 – THE EPISTLE OF IGNATIUS TO THE EPHESIANS. VOLUME. 9 – THE FIRST PART OF THE BOOK OF HERMAS CALLED HIS VISION. BONUS BOOKS: The Lost Books of the Bible and The Forgotten Books of EdenA good variety and collection of books which, for whatever reason, were excluded by the early Church councils from what became the Old Testament and New Testament we know today. Initially published in the early 1900’s, each one of the “Lost Books” includes a brief introduction giving background and history. Like the editors of this two-part volume, it is necessary to share personal opinions of the historicity of these works, each reader can decide for him or herself what is shadow and what is reality, and consider the debate which at one time engulfed some of these books. This volume is divided into two sections. The first is called “Lost Books of the Bible”, and includes works which deal with Jesus & the apostles, and may at one time have been considered part of the New Testament Gospel. Included are the following 26 “lost” books: The Gospel of the Nativity of Mary The Book of James, or Protoevangelion The Gospel of the Infancy of JESUS CHRIST I Infancy II Infancy III Infancy IV Infancy The Epistle of Jesus Christ The Gospel of Nicodemus The Apostles’ Creed The Epistle of Paul to the Laodiceans The Epistles of Paul to Seneca The Acts of Paul and Thelca First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians Second Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians The General Epistle of Barnabus The Epistle of Ignatius to the Magnesians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Romans The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Philadelphians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans The Epistle of Ignatius to Polycarp The Epistle of Polycarp to the Philippians The Shepherd of Hermas The Lost Gospel According to Peter The second part is titled “The Forgotten Books of Eden”, and includes works which are suited to the Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament. They too were excluded by Jewish (and some Christian) councils due to doubts about their age and origins. Included are the following 22 books: The Testament of Abraham The Book of Adam and Eve The Second Book of Adam and Eve The Life of Adam and Eve (Slovic) The Story of Ahikar The Letter of Aristeas The Odes of Solomon The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs (12 books) The Psalms of Solomon II Esdras IV Maccabees This affordable book offers a thought provoking read for those with a general interest “outside of the box”. While the translations are somewhat dated, they are not difficult to understand. Having this book on a CD is a dream come true. A wonderful feature of this CD is the ability to “copy and paste” any of the text from its over 1,000 pages into any other computer application/program. Try doing that with a printed book! Everything on this disk is fully searchable. And with so many pages and chapters to study, having built-in Bookmarks is definitely a time saver! Do you like audio books? Another time-saving feature not talked about very often is the “Read Aloud” function of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This feature will allow your computer to read the text of the book to you, whether it be one page or the entire book! (Don’t be fooled by others on eBay who try to pass off their eBooks as the only ones with this feature, as it will work with nearly any PDF in Adobe Acrobat) Don’t pass up this opportunity to obtain a copy of these awesome Bible reference books! Original hard copy editions of these works have sold on eBay for many times the cost of this disk. With this CD you can read the same pages on your computer, or print out any pages you like at your convenience. All files are in PDF format and are bookmarked for easy navigation. Not sure what an “eBook” is? The term ‘eBook’ simply means “electronic book”, meant for viewing on your computer or other device. Ebooks usually come in Adobe PDF format, as the one being offered in this auction. All that is required to read the Ebook is a software program called Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will open PDF files. Most computers already have the Adobe Acrobat reader software already installed, but in the rare instance your computer may not have it, you can download the latest version for FREE at www.adobe.com. For viewing on a mobile device such as Kindle, iPhone, Droid, etc. you must have an ‘app’ installed which allows reading of PDF files. With an Ebook, you can read books on your computer screen and zoom in on the text to make the words as big as you would like them to be to read comfortably! You can also go to any page or chapter in the book with just a few mouse clicks, even if the book has thousands of pages! You can also print out any or all pages you like at your convenience. With some Ebooks, you even have the capability to copy and paste the text of the book into another computer file, instead of retyping by hand. These are just a few of the features and conveniences of having a book in electronic format.I will send this item by postal mail. This audiobook is over 60 HOURS in length, and can be played on your computer (PC or Macintosh) or on your iPhone, iPod or any other MP3 player. This disk can also be played in an MP3 compatible DVD or CD player capable of playing low bit-rate files (check your documentation for compatibility). Shipping is FREE to the U.S.A! Also, each book of the Bible is a separate track, so navigating around the disk is very easy. The Bible text is read by a professional speaker with very light background music. This CD will NOT work in a standard CD player! This is an MP3 disk and it can only be played on devices capable of playing MP3 files. The Authorized King James Version is an English translation of the Christian Bible begun in 1604 and first published in 1611 by the Church of England. The Great Bible was the first “authorized version” issued by the Church of England in the reign of King Henry VIII. In January 1604, King James I of England convened the Hampton Court Conference where a new English version was conceived in response to the perceived problems of the earlier translations as detected by the Puritans. The Puritans were a faction within the Church of England. was the first “authorized version” issued by the Church of England in the reign of KingThe king gave the translators instructions designed to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its beliefs about an ordained clergy. The translation was by 47 scholars, all whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from the Textus Receptus (Received Text) series of the Greek texts. The Old Testament was translated from the Masoretic Hebrew text, while the Apocrypha were translated from the Greek Septuagint (LXX), except for 2 Esdras, which was translated from the Latin Vulgate. Thus, the Authorized Version included the Apocrypha. While the Authorized Version was meant to replace the Bishops’ Bible as the official version for readings in the Church of England, it was apparently (unlike the Great Bible) never specifically “authorized”, although it is commonly known as the Authorized Version in the United Kingdom. However, the King’s Printer issued no further editions of the Bishops’ Bible; so necessarily the Authorized Version supplanted it as the standard lectern Bible in parish church use in England. In the Book of Common Prayer (1662), the text of the Authorized Version replaced the text of the Great Bible — the Epistle and Gospel readings — and as such was ‘authorized’ by Act of Parliament. In the United States, the Authorized Version is known as the King James Version.By the first half of the 18th Century, the Authorized Version was effectively unchallenged as the sole English translation in current use in Protestant churches. Over the course of the 18th Century, the Authorized Version supplanted the Latin Vulgate as the standard version of scripture for English speaking scholars. The term ‘eBook’ simply means “electronic book”, meant for viewing on your computer or other device. eBooks usually come in Adobe PDF format, as the one being offered in this auction. All that is required to read the eBook is a software program called Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will open PDF files. Most computers already have the Adobe Acrobat reader software already installed, but in the rare instance your computer may not have it, you can download the latest version for FREE at adobe’s web site. These are just a few of the features and conveniences of having a book in electronic format.
